Our portfolio company, Pyxis, officially launched the Pyxis R yesterday—a fleet of solar-powered electric river boats.
Designed to replace half of WaterB, the current Singapore River fleet, by the end of 2025, Pyxis R is more than just a clean-energy alternative—it represents a new standard for sustainable urban waterways. These electric boats harness solar power during the day and integrate Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, allowing them to return excess renewable energy to Singapore’s grid when not in use.
Each Pyxis R ferry can generate up to 22 kWh of electricity per day, collectively producing enough energy across the fleet to power 20 HDB flats daily. This helps reduce the boats’ reliance on the grid, while also contributing surplus energy to support micro-waterfront projects such as floating events and public spaces.
Beyond its environmental benefits, Pyxis R offers a smoother and quieter ride, enhancing the experience for passengers traveling along the Singapore River. With WaterB operating up to 80 trips per day, the transition to electric boats will significantly cut long-term operating costs and emissions, supporting Singapore’s commitment to sustainable tourism.
As investors in sustainable mobility, we are excited to see our portfolio company Pyxis leading the charge in maritime innovation. This is just the beginning of a greener future for waterborne transport.
